Bee Raw is giving this #GivingTuesday

The Bee Raw Save the Bees Fund is giving back! This year Bee Raw partnered with New York Bee Sanctuary and East New York Farms to donate $2,500 to each organization in order to support conservation, education, sustainability and community!

Bee Raw started the Save the Bees Fund as a way to aid organizations like bee conservancies and local community gardens, who are doing important research and outreach work.

Read how New York Bee Sanctuary and East New York Farms are putting our donation to use:

"We are building a wildlife sanctuary for honey bees and pollinators in New York State, with programs to promote conservation of our vital insect friends all across the US. OUR MISSION — C.A.R.E. CONSERVE a pollinator-friendly natural environment full of beautiful wildflowers. ADVOCATE for bees and create awareness about their importance in our daily lives. RESEARCH colony collapse and create a hub for bee science in New York State. EDUCATE students and the public through onsite, offsite, and online programs.

The funds will be used to expand our BEESAFE Certification program. The New York Bee Sanctuary BEE-SAFE Certification designates schools, community gardens, parks, public and private grounds, as well as cities and towns as bee-friendly environments in New York State and across the country. BEE-SAFE Certification promotes planting pollinator-safe flowers and plants, eliminating the use of pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides and adopting safer IPM (Integrated Pest Management) practices.
Right now we have 5 schools, 3 community gardens, and 3 public parks registered. We aim to grow this to 50 schools, 20 community gardens and 10 public parks in the next 12 months."

"United Community Centers (UCC) is a social justice driven community center that has been serving the East New York neighborhood of Brooklyn for over 60 years. Our mission is to work together with residents of all ages and cultures to address our community’s challenges, celebrate its strengths, and provide services that improve lives.

The East New York Farms! Project (ENYF) is a project of UCC. Now in its 21st year, the project’s mission is to organize youth and adult residents to address food justice in our community by promoting local sustainable agriculture and community-led economic development. Our goal is to leverage local resources to empower residents to address their needs through a revitalization strategy that increases community food security, promotes health, and supports the preservation of natural resources. Through this process, we aim to create a more sustainable community and a higher quality of life for our residents.

100% of all funds will go to our community programs. Funds will support youth, adults, and children throughout East New York. They will provide stipends for our youth interns, help combat displacement of our homeowners, provide quality subsidized early childhood education for our youngest community members, and so much more."
